Building strong relationships
What attracted Emily Woodrow to NSM was the community aspect of the company, how welcoming everyone was and how eager they were to help. Emily started as an Account Analyst with the company’s retail division, NSM Insurance Brokers. In that role, Emily mastered the fundamentals of insurance and provided key coverages to clients — and flourished. Around her three-year anniversary, she wanted to learn more about the underwriting for NSM’s commercial insurance programs. This curiosity and hunger to learn and build relationships across the company led Emily to her current role as an Underwriting Analyst on our ATP team. The reason she looked internally when searching for a new job is simple — the culture of NSM.

Emily began at NSM in 2020 when the company was fully remote due to Covid-19 and was delighted to see how welcoming everyone was having not met her in person. For this reason, NSM felt like a place she wanted to stay at for a while. “I’ve gotten a lot of support through directors during my years here, and especially with my move to ATP,” Emily says. “They make me feel valued here.” Emily’s best advice she could give to anyone is to be vocal about your career, ask questions and reach out to people — it goes a long way.
