Ryan Hartigan
Earning respect
When Ryan Hartigan started as an intern in 2022, he was taken aback at his team members’ compassion. In fact, he says he was treated with the respect of someone who had worked here for years right away. “I felt like my mentors and team leaders were interested in my career just as much as I was.” He wasn’t just doing busy work, but rather assignments and projects that felt impactful, helping his team and the company grow. Ryan began interning with NSM’s HabPro program, focused on the underwriting process, reviewing submissions and triaging. Today, Ryan’s full-time position as an Underwriting Assistant involves an extension of these initial learnings from his internship. He makes sure inspections for properties are ordered and completed before binding, emailing back and forth with agents and inspectors each day.

Besides his success and growth on our HabPro team, Ryan says he’s most interested in growing at NSM because of the culture. “It’s a lot of pushing for hard work, but then at the same time they want you to close your laptop and have fun.” He says the team’s passion shows no boundaries, whether it’s supporting an agent partner or encouraging a fellow team member on our company softball team. NSM truly is the embodiment of the phrase “Work hard, play hard.” The biggest piece of advice that Ryan would give to future NSM employees is to ask as many questions as possible and to be patient.
