Why We Ride: NSM participates in 37th Annual The Ben to the Shore Bike Tour
On Sunday, July 21st, 2,300 riders participated in the 37th Annual Ben to the Shore Bike Tour from Philadelphia to Atlantic City — crossing over the iconic Ben Franklin Bridge to kick off their 65 miles!
This inspiring ride is the main fundraising event hosted by the Families Behind the Badge Children’s foundation — a Philadelphia-based nonprofit organization focused on supporting families of fallen or critically injured first responders, as well as fostering healthy relationships among the communities in which they serve. This foundation — and specifically this marquee event — is a key pillar of the NSM culture and is near and dear to many NSM team members, including our CEO & Founder Geof McKernan who is Chairman of the foundation’s board.
NSM has been the title sponsor of the Ben to the Shore for nearly 20 years and NSM team members and their families showed up BIG this year for the 37th ride! We had over 25 people on our riding team who either did the 65-mile ride to Atlantic City or the 30-mile ride to Hammonton, NJ. We had over 50 people volunteer the day of the event, helping with critical areas such as handing out water bottles to riders, setting up the after party and tagging bikes.
Each participant played a vital role in the success of this annual fundraising event — and we are proud to announce that Team NSM contributed this year’s grand total of $1.4 million raised for the Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation!
At NSM, we value the time when we come together with our neighboring communities and find ways to give back. The atmosphere throughout this ride is energizing as we rally together for a good cause to help our local first responders and their families and strive to build unity with the community and police officers who serve them.
A very special thank you to everyone who participated this year, especially our NSM Team Riding Captains Clinton Smith and Mikaela Bakey and our NSM Volunteer Captains Hannah Heron and Jared Wisocky!
Team NSM is already looking forward the 38th annual ride in 2025….until next year!
